essica Ashley is a self-proclaimed book fiend. The 24-year-old started writing prose at the age of four and lists modernist erotic masters Henry Miller and Anai's Nin as her favorites. "People always told me I should model, but literature was my focus." And after she started modeling, three years ago? "I was hooked," Jessica says. "It's so exhilarating. I feel I come alive in front of the camera. I get to be something awesome!" When we first ran across Jessica on Facebook, we knew this siren from the suburbs of Detroit was born to be a Playmate. And when we met her in person, our hunch proved right on the money. The adventurous University of Michigan graduate (she studied English and psychology) is into skydiving, running and having
sex ("I love it, and I'm not shy about it"). Her charisma is unmistakably sensual. "People always think I'm flirt­ing because I'm constantly touching myself and playing with my hair," she says. "I don't even realize I'm doing it. I'm just very tactile." Since she was chilled to the bone up in Michigan this past winter, we flew Jessica to a midcentury-modern Los Angeles mansion designed by John Lautner so she could hit the pool and lap up Silver Lake's sweeping, sun-baked views. Once the camera started clicking, Jessica's words rang true: She became something awesome indeed. "I treasure being Miss June," she says, her fingers tangled in her luscious hair. "I love the summer, and posing nude with playboy in that incredible house is a dream."
